"Difference isn’t something to be afraid of, it’s an opportunity for us to learn from each other and evolve together."

— Jaï Bristow

Many people want to educate themselves and take action but don't know how...

These days it can feel almost impossible to have a nuanced conversation about gender, race, class, disability, sexuality, and social identity in general, without it descending into divisive and polarising discourse. We end up in “us vs them” debates, in which we forget that we’re talking about fellow humans, and disconnecting from our own humanity in the process.

Or we hear rhetoric such as “we’re all one race, the human race”, denying both the beautiful diversity of the human experience, as well as bypassing the painful differences in treatment that we face, based on social identities.

We can end up feeling uneasy or unsafe at broaching these topics - whether that's out of fear of saying or doing the wrong thing - or the fear for one's wellbeing and security.

This course aims to make these topics accessible, embracing the complexity of the human experience, and bridging social differences to support each other.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, powerless or hopeless when reflecting on the state of the world - the international rise of the far right; ongoing wars and genocides; the climate and health crises; and the hoarding of wealth by a small minority, as the majority continues to suffer the consequences of their greed. It's no wonder we're all exhausted!

And yet, there is so much that we can do, especially when we come together, to create meaningful, immediate, positive change in the world.

Over these six weeks, learn tools for healing collective trauma, breaking harmful cycles, interrupting unhealthy patterns, and transforming difficult emotions such as fear, guilt, and shame, into a guiding force for concrete action.

This is a step-by-step guide to finding freedom from systems of oppression, both in society and within ourselves, through cultivating awareness and developing the capacity and resources needed to choose a different path - one of collective liberation!
